Job Title: Property Litigation Lawyer
Description
a Practice Lawyer to support the Head of Real Estate Litigation Litigation and the lawyers working in the product group in relation to the provision of know how (including precedents, changes in the law and practice and updating), training, risk assessment and lawyer development. Responsibilities will include: • Identifying available sources of technical and commercial know-how within the REL product group and outside it; changes in law and practice relevant to the REL product group; • Gathering relevant know-how and make it available to all lawyers in the most effective and supportive way to suit their activities and workload; obtaining feedback from the lawyers on the availability and use of such know-how and make any necessary changes; • Identifying the training and development needs of lawyers; assessing how such needs may be met from sources either within the firm (specifically, in the REL product group or the Litigation and Dispute Management practice group) or externally; • Organising the delivery of training (including acting as a trainer where appropriate); obtaining feedback on such training and the effect which it has had on the development of recipients and make any necessary changes; • Developing best practice guidance in respect of the delivery of know-how and training and development support and share it with relevant parties working in these fields in the Litigation & Dispute Management Practice Group; • Aligning the provision of know-how and training and development support to the business plan of the REL product group, including the development of training and precedents to support the use of project management within RAPID; • Liaising with lawyers handling claims and notifications relating the firm’s professional indemnity cover to ascertain which aspects of the work of the REL product group have given rise to claims or notifications and develop best practice guidance or training to respond to these; • Writing or assisting in the writing of or research for articles for internal or external publication • Working within the budget allocated for know-how and training and development support. You will be a qualified solicitor or barrister and have practised for at least 2 years as a lawyer in areas relevant to the work of the REL product group. You will have effective analytical, verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills. In addition, you will have sound administration and IT skills This role would preferably be based in Birmingham but other UK office locations will be considered.
