| Job Title: *** Funds Lawyer - 2-4 PQE - up to £65 000 *** |
| Description |
To work ideally within its Aberdeen offices although we will look at Lawyers who would look at working within the role at either its Edinburgh or London offices.
We are looking for a Qualified In-House Funds Lawyer with between 3-5 PQE as this is a hands-on role working with the business to provide advice on fund structures and regulations, sales and distribution agreements, investment management agreements, third party commercial contracts and to provide general legal advice.
Candidates, therefore, will have financial services/funds experience. Experience in property investment management and/or Luxembourg domiciled funds would also be an advantage.
The role will involve extensive liaison with the business units and colleagues across geographic locations/timezones means that excellent communication skills are essential.
KEY FUNCTIONS:
· Advising on and reviewing, in conjunction with external fund lawyers, documentation including prospectuses, constitutional documents and service provider agreements for in-house collective investment schemes domiciled in various European jurisdictions, with an emphasis on UCITS products and property funds.
· Advising on, drafting, negotiating and reviewing investment management agreements (including for management of Property assets) and a wide range of sales and distribution agreements, and other commercial contracts;
· Ensuring contracts and documentation meet commercial and corporate objectives of the Group and comply with legal and regulatory requirements;
· Act as the primary contact for the provision of general legal and regulatory advice within the Group;
· Providing practical and innovative solutions to legal problems, and providing legal input on projects (including fund launches/mergers) being undertaken across the Group;
· Developing and maintaining an extensive knowledge of the relevant regulatory and legal requirements in respect of the jurisdictions in which the Group operates, and in which Group funds are marketed and sold;
· Identifying and briefing colleagues on legal and regulatory issues and/or risks facing the Group.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
· Solid commercial legal experience;
· Excellent drafting skills;
· Practical and commercial approach;
· Good organisational and communication skills;
· Confident and proactive, with interest in working closely with the business;
· Team player but ability to work independently;
· Multi-jurisdictional and financial services/funds knowledge/experience is an advantage, but not a prerequisite; and
· Appropriate Legal qualification
